Terror Vs. Horror
So I spent the entire day on the couch vegging while having a wonderful lazy Sunday. We haven’t been able to just chill in at least a month since having to work on our rental property. I spent the entire day watching mindless TV and I loved it!
With TV comes commercials and I saw the trailer for The Mist by Stephen King numerous times. I actually shocked my husband by telling him I want to see it. Let me preface by saying I hate horror movies - but there is a huge difference between horror movies and terror movies. This isn’t a split guts, try to gross you out movie - it hits the psyche. Terror movies are the best.
Stephen King is just the master at messing with your mind. His movies scare you but not in the sense of gore. The ‘world is coming to an end’ movies are very thought provoking to me.
Stephen King is freakin’ awesome. The Shining was one of my all-time favorites. Jack Nicholson just nailed it. A perfect example of a terror movie that isn’t ‘horror’. The Green Mile was also one of my favorites. The scene at the end where Tom Hank’s character is still living after all of his peers had died was certainly ‘poetic’.
Anyway, Chris and I are going to see The Mist when it comes out on November 21st. We don’t get out much so I am uber excited!
