Daily Challenge: Stay in the Now Today

So I had an idea of posting a challenge for the day. A theme, if you will. For today try to focus on being "in the now". Here is a Wikipedia definition of this fundamental Eckhart Tolle principle:

Accept the present moment. It is resistance to the present moment that creates most of the difficulties in your life. However, acceptance does not mean that you cannot take action to rectify the situation you are in. What is important is to drop resistance so that you let the moment be, and that any action arises from deeper awareness rather than from resistance. The vast majority of pain in a person’s life comes from resistance to what is.

How do you stay in the "now"? "Use mindfulness techniques to fully appreciate your surroundings and everything you are experiencing. Look and listen intently. Give full attention to the smallest details."

Throughout the day try to focus on what is going on right in that particular moment. Listen to the sounds around you. Be aware of your body. Notice the small, seemingly inconsequential things around you. Only think of the past or future when absolutely necessary. If you get off-track today just come back and look at Eckhart Tolle’s picture and use it as a reminder.
